In these works, I use a combination of wool and fibers in natural colors, sometimes dyed with natural colors made from plants in my environment. I combine these with (surplus) products from my bee colonies, such as melted beeswax, pieces of honeycomb and queen cups.

Waste of a mushroom farm is still very much alive with mycelium. The filaments of the fungus fuse with my felted wool creations to form exceptional new landscapes. Where does the felt start en the mycelium end? Where a mushroom appears can’t be predicted. I observe and let it happen. Immers yourself in the details of this new abstract  all natural art.

These works are the size of a beehive frame, because they are literally a collaboration with the bees in their hive. First, I felt a canvas of wool and other fibers, allowing space for the bees to both literally and figuratively complete the work. In the hive the bees fill the spaces with honeycomb and use propolis on the felt to smooth the fibers. It’s always unpredictable what the bees will make of it, and my research into their methods is in full swing. The work is seasonal because in the winter months I respect their hibernation.

Layered fibres en structures, combined with powerfull colors, it let’s your mind wander to whatever magical world you want to go. Where are you going?

Nature is constantly changing. She adapts to the circumstances to continue to grow. In an organism as well as in an ecosystem everything is interconnected – which, as an ecologist, I know like none other. In my felt work I combine this science with playful fantasy.

In its complexity, female sexuality is one of my permanent and fascinating topics of inquiry. This series is a way of being connected with myself. The shape of female sex symbolizes this mysterious power, a beautiful form that takes shape in my art in an unobtrusive way that invites you to interpret for yourself and to reflect personally in your own way.
