Introduction to my work

Searching for the essence of life is the motivation for my art. In studying nature I approach my own nature. In getting closer to myself I also have something to tell the outside world: the future is feminine. Let’s be more caring for ourselves, each other, and our living environment. The rounded forms that appear naturally in my work convey that message: round, soft and connected, flowing, wavy and cyclical.

I investigate how nature works and how I can make her even stronger by working together with her. In my artwork I make connections, literally, between wool and other natural materials such as shells, branches, beeswax, tree resin, bones, stones, seeds, thorns and leaves to create something new and beautiful. As a working ecologist I know that everything grows and that it’s all interconnected.
Imagination liberates me and gives me room to play, it lets my own fantasy run free to create miraculous worlds. I hope your imagination as a viewer lets you interpret my work in a way that touches and moves you.

In my art I want to give you a new perspective on nature, so that she will again be viewed as the basis of our existence and we will feel our bond with her and within ourselves, our inner strength and inspiration. Those who come close to themselves also accept others as they are more easily.

In these works, I use a combination of wool and fibers in natural colors, sometimes dyed with natural colors made from plants in my environment. I combine these with (surplus) products from my bee colonies, such as melted beeswax, pieces of honeycomb and queen cups.

These works are the size of a beehive frame, because they are literally a collaboration with the bees in their hive. First, I felt a canvas of wool and other fibers, allowing space for the bees to both literally and figuratively complete the work. In the hive the bees fill the spaces with honeycomb and […]

Nature is constantly changing. She adapts to the circumstances to continue to grow. In an organism as well as in an ecosystem everything is interconnected – which, as an ecologist, I know like none other. In my felt work I combine this science with playful fantasy.
